Blue Sleep Apnea - Dr. Jordan Stern - Sleeping NightTHE BASICS: good bed, low light, low noise....

This can be a project for some, and very easy for others.  If you fall asleep too easily, everywhere, anytime, ... you may have sleep apnea.

Today’s high tech society has us tethered to innumerable electronic devices, ipods, iphones, blackberries, laptops, desktops, portable video games... constant stimulation that often follows us into the bedroom, and the night table, even in bed.   Studies have shown that disturbed sleep in children is directly correlated to the number of hours spent with these devices before bed time.

Think 19th century!

Warm chamomile tea (this is herbal and non-caffeinated), a warm bath, a massage ... read a few pages of a calming book (CALMING), dim the lights.  Perhaps soft soothing music. CLICK HERE to find out more about what we’re listening to to help us fall asleep.

AVOID:  large meals, exercise, any caffeinated or alcoholic beverages.

Use common sense...  Don’t do yoga handstands right after dinner and before bedtime, you will be spilling stomach contents into your throat and causing “reflux” that will plague you throughout the night with cough, choking, throat pain, snoring and sleep apnea.  Yes Yoga is great, at the right time...
